Visiting
You are welcome to visit the antenatal and postnatal wards at any time during the day (07.30 – 22.00). Should you wish your partner/companion to stay overnight we will try to facilitate this as we recognise the importance of having a support person with you and how this can reduce anxiety and help form close and loving relationships between parents and their babies in the postnatal period.
We ask that there are no more than 2 visitors at the bedside at any time unless special permission is granted by the Midwife in Charge.
If visiting late into the evening or early in the morning, please consider that other women and babies will be resting and be mindful of trying not to disturb them.
Only visit if you are well. If you have been unwell, please do not visit until you have been free of any symptoms for 48 hours. This includes cough, colds, vomiting and diarrhoea and other infectious diseases.
Use the alcohol hand rub provided on entering and leaving the area. Wash and dry your hands after visiting the toilet.
Only sit on the chairs provided for visitors, rather than the hospital bed.
Use toilets designated for visitors.
At the Jessop Wing your own children can visit but those who are not immediate family unfortunately we are unable to accommodate.
There may be times when visitors need to be asked to leave the bedside either to provide care for the woman or their baby or the care of women and babies in close proximity.
