Having more than one baby
If you are having twins or triplets, your babies might be born early. This means they may need special help when they are born. They could stay in a special baby care ward called the Neonatal Unit. The doctors and nurses will talk to you and explain everything. You can learn more about the Jessop Wing Neonatal Unit.
The team will always try their best to care for you and your babies in Sheffield. Sometimes, the neonatal unit in Sheffield is very busy. There might not be enough beds or staff to look after your baby. This might mean you need to go to a different hospital. This is to make sure you, and your babies, get the care they need. If this happens, the staff will talk to you and help you understand what’s going on.
Fetal Medicine
Sometimes, if you or your baby need extra care during pregnancy, your baby might be born early or need help after birth. They may go to the Neonatal Unit to get this care. The team at the Fetal Medicine Unit (FMU) will talk to you and give you more information. You can also find out more about the Neonatal Unit by clicking here.
